Pa Ikpekhia goes home this weekend

The remains of a retired civil servant and community leader, Pa Jacob Odion Elisha Ikpekhia will be buried on Saturday 29th of January 2022 in Upper Ekeke village, Ozalla, Owan West LGA Edo State.

Aged 83yrs, Pa Ikpekhia was born on 9th June 1938 to the family of late Chief Elisha Ikpekhia. His mother was of the family of Aruehi of Uhonmoke village Ozalla, Owan West LGA Edo State. He lost his mother at an early age.


He attended St Andrew’s Anglican Primary school Ozalla (now known as Orhueren Primary school Ozalla). After completing his primary education, he left home for Lokoja Kogi State where he learnt Typing and Shorthand and later qualified as a Secretary. He was employed at Inland Water Ways Lokoja after his qualification.


After the Nigeria Civil war, he relocated to Lagos where he took up an appointment at the Federal Ministry of Transportation. Later in his career, he was seconded to the then Federal Civil Aviation Authority (FCAA). When the parastatals in Aviation were merged in the early 1990s, he was transferred to the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria where he retired.


After retirement from government employment, he worked for a couple of years with Aero Control Nigeria Limited. He retired fully in the year 2004.


He departed in the early hours of 3rd December 2021 after a brief illness. He is survived by sons, daughters, sisters, nephews and grandchildren.
